A slow machine, a missing part. There was usually something I could point to.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The diner is harder to chart. Carmen gets through the morning. Marcus has figures for things. I keep watching the room and writing down what I think I\u2019ve understood.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then somebody moves a chair or asks for oat milk, and I have to look again.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What I wrote down<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The notes are short. Some days I can see what\u2019s happening. Some days I write it down and hope I\u2019ll understand it later.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Both parts<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part One is my notebook.
